Pledge of Allegiance in Florida

According to Florida Law, our school districts may adopt rules, which require recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

I support the recent proposal to change the Florida's Constitution to force school districts to mandate daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Approval in Tallahassee will put this measure on the ballot in November.

The proposal, however, would also include a requirement for schools to post notices that students can refuse to participate and be excused with parental or guardian approval.

Write to the sponsor, Senator Mi Fasano (Rep, New Port Richey) and your representatives indicating that you approve of the measure.

Note that Senator Steve Geller (Dem, Hallandale Beach)was the only "no" vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee last week.
